There is no question that this was not the weekend McIlroy envisioned as he just couldn’t get things going enough to really contend for his next major championship.

He still played great golf and posted a fifth top-8 finish in his past six tournaments.

I was really happy to see some of the other top names in the field this week for the Travelers as I am hopeful to get a decent number on McIlroy when odds open on Monday.

He has shown a comfort level on this course that has resulted in three top-20 finishes in his past three appearances and with the level of golf he is playing now, he should be the favorite in my eyes.

The way the tournament played out, it was hard to keep track of the players that put together good performances, but never really contended.

Leishman was one of those as his T14 finish may go largely overlooked, but it was a week in which he really played some solid golf.

The Australian gained strokes on the field in all four rounds with his irons and ended the week in positive metrics in everything except off the tee.

That is really back to his standard game where he can get a bit loose with his driver.
