Oklahomans have had a lot of reasons to cheer during this year’s NCAA softball and baseball World Series.

It looked for a while that the final two teams in the women’s event would be Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

As it turned out, Texas spoiled that possibility but eventually lost in two games to the Sooners in the finals.

The baseball World Series isn’t over as this is being written, but OU has won twice and is in good position to advance to the final series.

Oklahoma State fielded a very good team this year, but was knocked out of the picture by Arkansas

I find that many OSU fans are pulling, (somewhat reluctantly in some cases but pulling nonetheless) for the Sooners to prevail.

Watching the Sooners defeat Notre Dame got me to remembering the 1994 OU team that won the national title.

I was living in Kansas at the time, but my inclination always is to cheer for the Big 12 when the opportunity presents itself.
